Impressive Wine Bar in Charleston SC

Ask a wine connoisseur for a wine bar in Charleston SC recommendation and you won’t be surprised to see Amen Street at the top of their list.  Sure, Amen Street is known for the best seafood in Charleston, but one look at the wine bar menu and you can see why Amen’s wine selection is just as impressive as their fine dining.

With a full selection of whites, reds, sparkling and blends, Amen Street’s wine bar delivers stellar vintages from around the world at a price point for any budget. Amen Street offers 50 different wines available by the bottle with over half available by the glass.  Sample, sip, savor…it’s an easy credo to live by!

Whether you are enjoying a glass in the dining room or at the bar, you will find it easy to relax at Amen Street.  The exposed brick walls, beautiful oyster shell chandeliers and the whimsical art work by Paul Colin reminds you that you are indeed in Charleston. Around the bend from the main bar, a quiet alcove welcomes intimate gatherings of friends.

Of course as you sip, you most likely will also want to dine.  Guests will find Amen Street’s lunch, dinner and wine menus all compliment each other very nicely.  It will be hard to choose with so many options, so here are a few of our favorite food and wine pairings to get you started:
Tarrica, Riesling (Central Coast) – Available by the bottle or the glass, this is a traditional, dry Riesling that pairs well with most seafood dishes including Amen’s calamari, shrimp and grits and soft shell crab dishes.

Pine Ridge, Chenin Blanc/Viognier (California) – Bursting with fruity flavors such as pink grapefruit, mango and Anjou pear, this Chenin Blanc has a light and slightly off-dry flavor that goes well with Amen’s famous fresh oysters.

Charles Krug, Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley) – Perfect for Spring and Summer, this Sauvignon Blanc is a light wine with citrus and grapefruit flavors.  We recommend enjoying it with any of our fresh herb grilled fish entrees.

Seaglass, Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara) –  A new addition to the Amen Street wine bar, the Seaglass Pinot Noir has delicate aromas and juicy cherry flavors. This wine is beautifully balanced bringing you a bright, clean style that compliments grilled seafood or dishes made with earthy mushrooms.

Looking for fresh seafood and wine pairings from your personal list of favorites?  Be sure to ask our knowledgable servers and bar staff for suggestions that are sure to please your palate.  Cheers!
